His Excellency Joseph Kariyil blessed the newly built Santa Maria Church, Perumpadappu on 12th August 2017. Many priests, religious and parishioners gathered to witness the blessing of the new Church which was constructed in a record time (11 months) under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Jelson Velassery.

Bishop Joseph Kariyil announced the erected of a new Parish. Kochery St. Mary's Church will be the 45th parish of the Diocese. And Rev. Fr. Antony Raju Mandothparambil is appointed as the new Parish Priest of the newly erected Parish.
The canonization of Mother Teresa will be held on 4 September this year in Rome during the Sunday Mass celebrated as part of the Jubilee for workers and volunteers of mercy.
